A set hands someone a brand's routine in one box: a cleanser, a treatment and often a cream, in sizes that last a few weeks. They learn what suits their skin before buying full bottles, and you skip guessing their skin type for a single serum.

We checked the seller on every listing below on October 11, at a New York delivery address. Each one is sold by the brand's own store or by Amazon. On US Amazon, popular K-beauty products also turn up from resellers, and we have found counterfeit listings for brands such as Beauty of Joseon, so the seller line matters.

Several of these are holiday editions. Anua calls its holiday kit limited-edition, so buy early if you want that one.

+ The good
  • 4,162 ratings, among the most of any set we checked
  • Covers the Korean double cleanse plus one treatment
  • Sold by Anua from its own store
– The trade-offs
  • No moisturizer in the box
  • The listing does not give the bottle sizes

Give this to someone curious about K-beauty who has no routine yet. The steps follow the order Korean brands give for an evening cleanse: the oil takes off makeup and sunscreen, the foam washes away what the oil leaves, and the serum goes on clean skin. Anua sells the serum for dark spots, with tranexamic acid (TXA) and niacinamide.

The kit stops before moisturizer, so pair it with a cream they already like, or add the Round Lab or Dr. Jart+ set from the list below. The listing asks for a patch test and says to keep the serum away from the eyes.

Buy this for someone who likes a dewy finish and would enjoy opening a luxury box. Tatcha is a San Francisco brand built around Japanese ingredients such as rice and camellia, and this set runs its Dewy line from wash to cream. The Rice Wash foams with water, The Essence goes on after cleansing, then The Dewy Serum and The Dewy Skin Cream, which Tatcha makes with Japanese purple rice.

Tatcha sells the Starter Ritual in two other versions. Calming & Strengthening, for sensitive skin, costs $68. Firming & Smoothing costs $95 and swaps in Tatcha's camellia cleansing oil, The Rice Polish exfoliant, The Silk Cream and The Silk Peony eye cream.

  • Only 16 ratings so far
  • The four travel sizes are small, 19 to 35 ml each

Choose this for someone who wants a Japanese routine, or whose skin feels tight in winter. The kit follows the Japanese order: oil cleanse, cream wash, then a watery lotion, an emulsion, and the Herbal Gel to seal in moisture. In Japanese skincare, a lotion is the watery step that goes on right after cleansing, closer to a Korean toner than to an American body lotion.

Kosé also sells a four-step Herbal Hydration kit for $20. It drops the emulsion and comes with a travel-size gel, so it works as a smaller gift or a trial before this one.

The five minis come separate, so you can keep one and hand out the other four.

COSRX also sells a version that pairs the peptide serum with its 15% niacinamide serum for $34.99, for someone who cares more about pores than dryness.

The buying guide.

01

Match the set to their skin

If their skin gets oily or breaks out, the lighter Anua and SKIN1004 sets suit them. For dry skin, Sekkisei, Round Lab and the Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin ornament all center on moisture. For sensitive skin, look at Tatcha's Calming & Strengthening version, Pyunkang Yul or Curél, which leaves out fragrance. If you can't guess, give the Laneige lip minis.

02

Check who sells it

On the Amazon page, look under the Add to Cart button for the seller. You want the brand's own store or Amazon.com. A low price from an unfamiliar seller can mean old stock or a fake, which you don't want going on someone's face. Each pick above lists its seller.

03

Minis or full sizes

Most sets hold travel sizes that last a few weeks, enough to learn whether a product works. The Sekkisei kit includes a full-size gel, and Laneige and Dr.Jart+ add a full-size lip product. If the person already knows what they like, buy the full-size bottle of that one product.

04

Tell them to patch test

COSRX and Anua both ask for a patch test on their listings. Put a little of each new product on the jaw or inner arm for a day or two before using it on the whole face, and stop if it stings or turns red.

FAQ.

They are when the brand's own store or Amazon sells them. Check the seller line under the Add to Cart button. Each set we picked comes from the brand or from Amazon, as of October 11, 2026.

Tatcha's Calming & Strengthening Starter Ritual ($68), the Pyunkang Yul Calming set ($45.99) and the Curél trial kit ($16.63) are all sold for sensitive skin. Curél's kit is fragrance-free. Ask the person to patch test anything new.

The Laneige Midnight Minis ($23), the SKIN1004 Centella Travel Kit ($21.40), the Sekkisei Herbal Hydration kit ($20) and the Curél trial kit ($16.63).

The holiday sets are on Amazon now. Prices may drop around Black Friday, November 27, 2026, but a limited edition such as Anua's holiday kit can sell out first.

Tatcha is based in San Francisco and builds its formulas around Japanese ingredients such as rice and camellia. Sekkisei and Curél come from the Japanese companies Kosé and Kao.

The Verdict

New to K-beauty: Anua 3-Step Kit, $45.
A splurge: Tatcha Starter Ritual, $74.
A stocking: Laneige Midnight Minis, $23.

Give the Anua kit to someone starting out: it teaches the double cleanse and adds one serum, and 4,162 buyers rate it 4.5 stars. Tatcha's Starter Ritual is the box to open on the day, with a full routine from wash to cream. For a Japanese routine, Sekkisei's five steps come with a full-size gel. When you can't guess someone's skin type, give the Laneige minis.
