The Glass Skin

Hydration-Layered

The Korean 'glass skin' look is a hydration outcome, not a single product. Eight thin layers of differently-weighted humectants beats one $200 cream every time.

The Essentials

The minimum routine. Skip nothing here.

The Extras

Optional add-ons. Each has a "when to add" trigger — none are daily-use unless the trigger fits.

— Editor's Note
Glass skin is achieved by layering: hydrating toner, then essence, then ampoule, then serum, then emulsion, then cream, then sleeping mask once a week. The trick is each layer being LIGHT — heavy creams suffocate the layered effect. Mixsoon's Bean Essence is the cult-favorite for this technique, and Klairs' Rich Moist Soothing Serum slides in as the final water-based layer before any cream.
